About the Speaker

Ts. Dr. Tan Sie Ting’s sustainability journey started from academic research to practicing consultant. She is driven by the belief that sustainability is the only future and everyone has a role to play.

She is currently the Associate Director in Green Quarter Sdn. Bhd, managing the company’s operation in sustainability benchmarking, framework, and strategies planning in built environment. Sie Ting holds several green building professional credentials including: LEED Accredited Professional, GBI Facilitator, GreenRE Accredited Professional and MyCREST Qualified Professional. She is highly proficient in Carbon Footprint Assessment, Sustainability Benchmarking, Supply Chain Optimization, and Waste & Energy Process Optimization.

She obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in year 2015 and has published more than 20 research journals internationally and received Gold Award and Best Woman Invention Award at Seoul International Invention Fair in the year 2014. In addition, she was also granted two international scholarships as visiting researcher in Sweden and Austria in year 2012-2015. Prior to her green building profession, Sie Ting worked as a researcher in Research Institute for Sustainable Environment in UTM where she was involved in projects related to energy and environmental feasibility and assessment. These included ‘Transboundary Study of Haze Episode’ with collaboration from Academic of Science Malaysia and ‘Low-carbon City Planning for Iskandar Malaysia’ with collaboration from Kyoto University and National Institute of Environmental Study of Japan.

Outside of work, she volunteers for the Malaysia Green Building Council (malaysiaGBC), a sustainability-led association with aim of making green buildings and communities available to all Malaysians. She is also a council member of malaysiaGBC, as well as the Membership Committee Co-Chair and Chair of Green Financing Task Force. Apart from that, she is actively involved in numerous of university engagement, as an industry advisor, speakers and external examiner to promote green building.
